He completed his postdoctoral training at the Institute Curie before moving to Luxembourg in 2004 to join the Public Research Centre for Health (now the Luxembourg Institute of Health, LIH). In 2007, Dr. Janji joined the Experimental Cancer Research Laboratory, where he established a research program focused on hypoxic stress within the tumor microenvironment and its impact on anti-tumor immune responses and resistance to immunotherapy. He obtained his HDR (Habilitation to Direct Research) from the University of Paris-Saclay in 2011 and was subsequently promoted to Senior Researcher. In 2015, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Experimental Cancer Research Laboratory.\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Dr.-Bassam-Janji.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<div>Dr. Janji\u2019s leadership and scientific achievements were further recognized in 2019 with his appointment as Head of the Tumor Immunotherapy and Microenvironment (TIME) research unit in the Department of Cancer Research at LIH. His expertise in tumor immunology and the tumor microenvironment is internationally recognized. He has authored more than 95 peer-reviewed publications, contributed 10 book chapters, and is an inventor on three patents. His work has been cited more than 25,000 times.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Janji serves as an expert evaluator for several national and international funding agencies. He is also an executive editor and an editorial board member for multiple scientific journals.
