She obtained her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Immunology from Nagoya University (Nagoya, Japan) in 2023. She subsequently completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Center Research Institute (Tokyo, Japan), where she continues to work as a Visiting Researcher and collaborates on basic and translational cancer immunology research.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/dr-Carolyne.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Dr. Barakat\u2019s research focuses on the development of T cell therapies and the identification of tumor antigens that can be targeted for cancer treatment. Her work investigates T cell recognition of tumor antigens and the mechanisms governing self\/non-self-discrimination in antitumor immunity, with a particular focus on hematological malignancies and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
